Interesting beats popular. That’s the idea behind The Thing. I’ve spent 3+ years thinking through the algorithms behind this. They were always too slow and expensive to make it practical. Jev by TypeSafe AI finally changed that. Think X meets Reddit. There’s Main, the shared conversation, and individual Things for whatever you’re into. Anyone can start one. Each has its own feed. The algorithm assesses what posts add to the conversation and screens for spam and AI slop. Likes don’t move you up the feed, and being a regular doesn’t give you priority. You write community rules in plain language, and they become part of the assessment. The system applies them instead of people with agendas. It’ll get things wrong, but I want to see how far we can take it. I’m tired of networks that reward another argument nobody needed. I want somewhere you can share something interesting and get heard without making audience-building your second job. Will it work? I have no idea. After three years of trying, I’m excited to find out.
